Home Alarms – To Monitor Or Not to Monitor
There are a lot of different ways to save money and cut corners when it comes to home security systems. The problem is that you don’t want to cut corners so much that you end up with an inefficient system. This is what home owners and renters need to be especially careful about. One of the ways that people often try to cut corners to save money is with purchasing a non monitored home system. But is this a safe way to save money or something that is going to put your home and family at a greater risk There is much debate about this topic. Some people believe that getting an unmonitored system is a great way to save money. You can do the installation of the system yourself to save money on paying a professional to do the same. And you don’t have to pay the monthly service fees to the home monitoring company. There is no question that you will save money by doing this, but will it keep your home secure This is the most important thing to consider, so it is important to weigh the pros and cons and see if the extra money a month is worth what kind of increased home security you might get from a monitored system.
There are a lot of pros to a monitored home security system and really the only con is that there will be an increased cost to have this type of system. The cost of a monitored system, however, is not as expensive as many people think. It might be worth calling around to some of the monitoring companies to inquire about the monthly fees. You might find that it is much more manageable than you thought. The ideal system would be a monitored one. The only real security that you have with an unmonitored system is that you will have an alarm that will sound if someone sets it off. This can have the effect of scaring away a burglar, but no one will be there to alert the police unless you happen to be home. Likewise, neighbors will assume that the system is monitored and that the home security company is alerting the authorities. With a monitored system, the representative on duty will call your home to check if everything is okay. If need be he or she will call the police, the fire department, or emergency services depending on the need. The same monitoring company that monitors the security system can also be connected to your smoke detectors, heat sensors, and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure there is no danger there either. They also keep an eye on your home when you are at work, at school, or out of town. It will allow you to relax a little more knowing that someone is keeping an eye on things.

Home Insurance – Protection When You Rent Your Home
When you are renting out your home, you need a different type of home insurance policy. It is absolutely necessary that you insure your home before you rent it out.
You need a different type of insurance cover because you would not be insuring the house and the contents unless you rent out furnished accommodation. You need to protect your self against loss of income. Although your tenants may buy a renter’s policy, it does not protect you as the owner of the house. Take into consideration liability issues.
There are companies who specialize in commercial insurance. They have different policies designed specially for rental home owners. Like I earlier mentioned there are variations in rental property policies.
